A holistic approach to sports massage therapy which aims to correct muscular imbalances, increase range of movement, reduce pain and relax both body and mind.
Why choose sports massage?
If you train hard and wish to improve your performance and recover faster for your next training session this treatment would be perfect for you.
Many of my clients who choose sports massage are training for half marathons, marathons, triathlons, Crossfit and many other activities. My goal is to give a treatment that allows your muscles to function and perform at their optimum level.
However, sports massage is not just for athletes as it’s also a relaxing way to unwind from the stresses of day to day life and thus beneficial for anybody who suffers from fatigue, muscle soreness, delayed onset muscle soreness, stress or anxiety.
Also included (if beneficial) within my massage therapy treatments are:
Injury assessments
Myofascial cupping
Kinesiology taping

The benefits of sports massage include:
• Reduced chance of injury
• Increased flexibility
• Increased range of motion
• Faster recovery and healing
• Reduced muscular tension and stiffness
• Reduction in pain

What to expect?
On your first visit for sports massage we’ll have an initial consultation which covers your medical history, current lifestyle, why you’ve come for sports massage, a postural assessment and then a treatment plan based on the consultation.
During the treatment I will always check that the pressure i’m using is not too painful. I work on a scale of 0-10 pain threshold, with 10 being extremely painful. With this in mind I like to work to around a 5-7 and this can vary throughout the massage.
I use a range of Swedish massage techniques that may include effleurage, petrissage and tapotement alongside advanced techniques and stretches which include MET (muscle energy techniques), STR (soft tissue release), NMT (neuromuscular techniques) and myofascial cupping.
The treatment concludes with my aftercare advice which will include stretches and strengthening exercises to increase muscle flexibility and joint mobility.
Life and work put our body’s under immense physical and mental stress often resulting in fatigue, tension, aches, pains and soreness. Sports massage looks to relieve these. I believe everyone deserves to live their life to the fullest and this means pain free.
